Did you know that there’s an almost unlimited potential for security features which can be hooked into your gplink system?
The gplink system is capable of interfacing with up to 4 total onboard systems (one of these must be the RF receiver).
This means you can use the bilge and smoke alarms that come as part of the standard kit and still interface with your existing security system. If you interface with your shipboard security system you will then receive alerts anytime there is a security breach. If on-board, you can consult your control panel to identify the specific troubled area. If you are not on-board you will know there is an issue and need to send someone to look into it.

gplink is proud to partner with the Iridium Network to provide you with the most reliable coverage available. With a network of 66 active satellites, Iridium is capable of providing coverage from the North Pole to South Pole and all points in between. We’re aware very few of our vessel owners need the arctic coverage, but most do spend time offshore well beyond GSM range.
gplink customers deserve the very best, and this partnership allows gplink customers to have the freedom to venture anywhere they choose knowing that we will have their vessel monitored.
We also understand privacy is a concern to our customers. We’re comfortable with the Iridium satellite network because it has such exceptional security features which are trusted enough to be utilized by the Department of Defense.

Recently an 80’ motoryacht just off the production line awaiting final fit and finish at the manufacturer’s plant was outfitted with a gplink monitoring system, including bilge and smoke alarm sensors. Not long after installation, the gplink concierge received a high water alert from the vessel. The gplink concierge called the OEM representative who went to check on the vessel. The gplink bilge alarm was secondary to an in-house system which the staff had been silencing, assuming there were tests being performed on board. It was not until the gplink concierge called and requested they physically check the bilge that it was discovered that a chiller hose had broken and was filling the boat with water. At the time of discovery, there was already a significant amount of water accumulated in the bilge. If ignored, significant loss and expense would have been incurred.
The benefits of gplink continue to surface – and with this scenario, the service proves not only effective as a primary system, but also as an excellent secondary means of safety, security and loss prevention.

Did you know that if your vessel travels only near-shore or inland we have a gplink plan just for you?! Our near-shore plan, at only $700 a year, features all of the components of the dual-band gplink program, with one difference – We hook the unit up for GSM-only service. The system functions the same as its off-shore “big brother,” but by eliminating the satellite component from the annual bandwidth service, your cost is reduced by more than half.
If you decide to venture off-shore in the future, there are short term options including one and three month plans with satellite service, or you can always upgrade to the more robust dual-band reporting with just a phone call to the gplink concierge.
